The Red Thread

In Chinese culture
It was once said
Some are connected
By a red thread
That this string binds you
All of your life
To people important to you
Like a husband or wife

To me the thread is like
Leaves on a tree
Waiting for the moment
When they are set free
But when they are together
What an impressive sight
When the thread is broken
The leaves take flight

But their time together
Connected on a branch
Brought joy to many
Then they did their dance
Each went their seperate way
But their time together
In their hearts will stay
