Father's Day?

While most men celebrate this day
Not me since my wife passed away
And my sons are now both grown and gone
No reason for me to carry on

About a holiday that only brings
Back bad memories of shattered dreams
And gifts worth their weight in gold
That or either lost or too damn old

My home is empty like my heart
And now it is too late to start
Another life with somebody new
Or a second chance at love so true

No reason to look for a card
Or grandchildren playing in the yard
Or expect to hear someone say
