statues

frozen in time and granite
set in stone for eternity
with graceful lines
carved from jagged rock
then placed on display
for all to see

the reason unclear
as time will turn rocks
to ruins leaving only
pieces of what
we used to be

while future generations
wonder was this
some sort of ancient
sacrifice to the
insecurities of the mind
